How to Use Celox™ Rapid Gauze for Hemorrhage Control
Celox™ Rapid Gauze is an advanced hemostatic dressing designed to rapidly control moderate to severe bleeding in emergency trauma situations. Used by U.S. and allied militaries, law enforcement, and medical professionals worldwide, Celox™ Rapid is engineered to reduce packing and compression time during critical hemorrhage control.
Unlike many traditional hemostatic dressings that require up to three minutes of compression, Celox™ Rapid reduces compression time to just 60 seconds, helping improve casualty survival in emergency and hostile environments.
Celox™ Rapid uses a specialized chitosan-based hemostatic agent that works independently of the body’s natural clotting cascade and has demonstrated effectiveness even in hypothermic conditions.
Step 1 — Identify and Expose the Wound
First, identify the source of the hemorrhage and fully expose the wound by removing clothing and obstructions around the injury site.
When opening Celox™ Rapid Gauze, slight flaking of the product may be visible. This is normal and does not affect the effectiveness of the hemostatic dressing.
Step 2 — Pack the Wound
Pack Celox™ Rapid tightly and directly into the wound cavity at the point of hemorrhage.
Continue packing until all wound spaces are tightly filled with firm and even pressure. Proper wound packing is critical for effective bleeding control and hemorrhage management.
Step 3 — Apply Direct Pressure
After the wound has been fully packed, apply firm, even compression for one minute using your hands or fingertips.
Maintaining direct pressure allows the Celox™ Rapid dressing to remain in close contact with the wound surface while the hemostatic agent forms an artificial clot to control bleeding.
Step 4 — Assess Bleeding Control
After one minute of compression, assess whether the bleeding has stopped.
Do not remove or lift the dressing to inspect underneath the wound packing. Once bleeding is controlled, secure the dressing with a compression wrap or bandage to stabilize the injury.
Step 5 — Reassess and Prepare for Evacuation
Depending on the tactical or medical situation, continue reassessing the casualty and prepare for evacuation or advanced medical care.
If Celox™ Rapid was improperly applied or bleeding continues, completely remove the existing dressing, identify the source of hemorrhage, and apply a new hemostatic dressing.
Celox™ Rapid Gauze Uses
Celox™ Rapid Gauze is commonly used for:
severe hemorrhage control,
traumatic injuries,
wound packing,
tactical medicine,
gunshot wounds,
emergency trauma care,
law enforcement medical kits,
and emergency preparedness applications.
Proper hemorrhage control training and wound packing education are strongly recommended before emergency use.
Important Hemorrhage Control Reminder
Severe bleeding can become life-threatening within minutes. Rapid wound packing, effective compression, and proper hemorrhage control techniques are critical skills in emergency trauma care.
